It has taken me a few months to write this review because I didn’t want to rush – I wanted to give credit where credit was due. A friend recommended Nelson and we were not disappointed. It started by Nelson picking us up in Porto, Portugal and drive the 4 of us to Lisbon with a stop in Fatima for a private tour with Nelson. His car was clean and accommodated the four of us with large luggage and had plenty of room to spare. In our way to Fatima Nelson told us a little bit about each town we passed. Once we arrived in Fatima, he took us to an area where we could spend a little time shopping. The locals had wonderful things, from rosary beads to to tablecloths. After, Nelson took us to where the shepherds had lived, and then onto the sanctuary of our Lady of Fatima. We spent a few hours there with Nelson as our guide. He knew all about the history of Fatima and answered any questions we might have had. He was very knowledgeable and never rushed us. After our tour, Nelson recommended a lovely restaurant, “ A Fandanguita” located a few minutes outside of Fatima. Nelson helped us order and everything was super delicious. A husband and wife run the restaurant and we left feeling like family. Then we were on our way to Lisbon, but along the way my friend asked if we could stop in Nazareth And Nelson did. We arrived in Lisbon hours later than we were scheduled, due to our wanting to stop in a few extra places, Nelson took everything in stride, a true gentleman. Nelson was so knowledgeable and made this experience one of a kind. We got to see all of the major sites and more without ever feeling rushed. Having a local as Nelson is vital for having an authentic experience in Fatima to share/show all of the little details you wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to see/hear about. We gained so much information and had an unforgettable day. Absolutely breathtaking. Nelson truly has a gift from God, to share the message of Fatima with the world. We were looking for an experience that was more than a “tour” but also was not a pilgrimage. This was exactly that. We ended up calling it “A Pilgrimage in a Day”! I don’t want to give too much away, so you have a special experience. Nelson will build up the anticipation until you finally see the main apparition site. Whatever you do- please, please follow his suggested itinerary. He has everything mapped out for a reason- I promise! A note about Nelson- he is extremely professional as this is his livelihood. He “reads the room” well and will adjust depending on the situation. He has much passion for this tour, but is not forceful in his beliefs. He and I shared the same faith, but this tour is very suitable for those of all religions. My boyfriend is a history buff and Nelson had endless facts to share for 8 hours. Thank you Nelson for allowing us to visit Our Lady.
